Dr Shams graduated from Monash University in 2009. He has 14 years of experience in the field of surgery. He has gained abundance of experience and surgical skills working in various tertiary centers in Malaysia including Seremban, UKM and Kuantan.

He holds a position of Senior Honorary Lecturer in International Medical University (IMU) and is very passionate in teaching both Master of Surgery candidates and undergraduate students. Prior to joining Kensington he was the Head of Department of Port Dickson Hospital.

Dr Shams has more than 10 years of experience in laparoscopic surgeries, with particular interest in hernia. Managing patients with trauma and gut health is his expertise. He is also a member of several clinical nutrition organizations including the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society of Malaysia (PENSMA) and the Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society of Asia (PENSA).
